Why do we move on after 10 Practice Sessions?
One of the hardest parts of TalkBox.Mom is that there are so many useful phrases you want to keep going! But moving forward after 10 Practice Sessions in a Challenge is intentional.
You are not trying to finish every phrase in a Challenge before moving on. You are building a growing group of phrases your family can actually use in real life.
You are not leaving those phrases behind. After 10 Practice Sessions, your Focus Phrases move into a Review Set so you can keep using them while you move forward.
When you move forward, something important happens: the phrases from your previous Challenge do not disappear. They move into Weekly Reviews, while you begin adding new phrases from the next Challenge.
That means your family is doing two things at the same time:
- continuing to use and review phrases you already practiced
- adding new language from a connected topic
This helps your family build fluency across more situations instead of staying in one small group of phrases for too long.
What if there are more phrases I really want to practice?
There will be! That is one of the best parts of coming back through a Box again.
After you finish a Box, you can start another Tour of that Box from the Roadmap. On your next Tour, you can choose completely different Focus Phrases.
And the second time through can feel dramatically different.
You are not starting over. Your family already has experience with the topic, the language patterns, and many of the phrases from your first Tour. You are adding new phrases on top of language you are already using.
That extra confidence can make it much easier to notice connections between phrases and bring new ones into real life.
Can we practice more than 10 phrases in a Challenge?
Yes. If your family wants to add more language during a Challenge, you can choose two Focus Phrases in a Practice Session.
But you still do not need to work through every phrase before moving forward.
For most families, we recommend continuing through the Challenges, reviewing what you have already practiced, and then returning for another Tour.
Why does this matter?
The goal is not to check off the most phrases.
The goal is for your family to remember and use more language together.
Moving forward lets you keep expanding where and how you use the language, while Reviews continue bringing your earlier Focus Phrases back.
Then, when you Tour the Box again, you can add another layer with much more confidence.
That repeated cycle — practice, use, review, move forward, and come back again — is what makes each Tour more powerful than trying to finish everything at once.
